Participants will build off of the understandings of key welding topics from Automotive bundle 1 as they relate to automotive welding repair.

This course will familiarize Welding Supervisors and Inspectors with the correct inspection requirements for oil and gas transmission pipelines, processing piping and related steel structures. At a general level, the course will cover key topics relating to the scope of the standard with respect to welding and inspection, use of applicable tables and charts to determine correct inspection methods, and the correct fit-up and inspection of critical welded components as they relate to to the safe operation of oil and gas related piping and structures.

Introduction to Welding Processes

This course covers the classification of welding processes and describes the principles and the equipment used for gas tungsten arc welding, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, flux cored arc welding and submerged arc welding.

Radiographic Inspection

This online course is designed to provide a more detailed review of the radiographic inspection process. Many welding professionals will be introduced to this inspection method during their careers and this module will give the user a firm understanding of how it is applied, what defects can be detected and what techniques can be employed for various applications. In addition, the basic safety practices are also reviewed.

Ultrasonic Inspection

This course is designed to provide a more detailed review of the ultrasonic inspection process. Many welding professionals will be introduced to this inspection during their careers and this course will give the user a firm understanding of how it is applied, what discontinuities can be detected and what techniques can be employed for various applications. There will be an introduction to critical parameters for successful application.

Ultrasonics Level 1 Blended Learning Practical

To meet the successful completion criteria for training, as defined by NRCan (Certifying Body), a combination of both theoretical knowledge and practical hands on training is required but it is not always feasible for students to attend traditional inclass training. To accommodate our client's needs while still meeting the NRCan requirements, CINDE has designed a Blended Learning approach to training which combines both online digital media training with a live proctored final exam for the delivery of the NDT theory, paired with traditional classroom methods to meet the practical hands-on component. We recommend that you do your final exam after the practical session so that both theory and practical can be 'blended' for the best overall learning experience. This course is offered in partnership with Canadian Institute for Non-Destructive Evaluation (CINDE).

Ultrasonics Level 2

This course provides the in-depth knowledge in the principles of ultrasonic testing and the fundamentals of engineering, materials and components, such that the technician will be able to: identify the suitability of ultrasonic testing for all materials and inspection applications; develop inspection techniques and prepare procedures that can be followed by a Level 1 technician; document results of the analysis; be familiar with all regulatory codes and specifications for ultrasonic testing and their intent. This course is offered in partnership with Canadian Institute for Non-Destructive Evaluation (CINDE).

W47.1 Workshop for Supervisors and Inspectors

This course is intended for Welding Supervisors and Inspectors who want to increase their knowledge of the certification requirements of CSA Standard W7.1. It is also of interest to engineers, shop foremen, quality assurance personnel or others who want to gain a knowledge of CSA Standard W47.1, Certification of companies for the fusion welding of steel.

W59 Workshop for Supervisors and Inspectors
