Welding Inspector Level 1 Online

Course Overview

This online course is designed for Welding Inspectors who want to increase their knowledge of metallurgy, inspection and testing techniques. This is your first step to advancing your career and increasing your earning potential.

This is a self-study course completed online. Students will have access to the online course (CWB Learning Resources) for 90 days. This platform will provide course content, course quizzes, final course exam and a digital copy of the textbooks.

Participants will have access to download a transcript and certificate of attendance on successful completion of the course exams and final AI exam. Passing grade is 70%.

Certification to CSA W178.2

To advance your career even further, and provided you meet the requirements as outlined in CSA W178.2, most course candidates are eligible to take the next step of applying for certification to become a certified Level 1 welding inspector, in conjunction with attending the course.

Should candidates wish to pursue this route, the Welding Inspector Application Form (CWB Form 450) and Visual Acuity Form (CWB Form 455) must be completed, submitted, and approved prior to the course start date.  All information regarding the certification process is outlined in our Welding Inspector Application Guide (Form 301).  The application fee is not included in the course registration fee.

Successful completion of the course material and course examinations will exempt you from writing the closed book CSA W178.2 certification examination on the fundamental principles and practices of welding, quality control, and welding inspection, resulting in the candidate only needing to complete the two code exams and the Practical Exam. (All certification examinations must be completed within 2 years of the application approval date).

Class Cancellation Policy
The course cost, less a 25% enrollment charge per person, will be refunded if cancellation is made in writing no less than 5 working days before the course. There will be no refund for cancellation after that date. The CWB has the right to cancel the program 10 working days prior to the date of the course. Full refunds will be made to registered participants if the CWB cancels the program. Participants are eligible for one course transfer as long as notice is given no less than 5 working days before the original course date.
