2026 Welding Industry Report

The 2026 Welding Industry Report is now available online.

The Canadian Welding Industry Report is a snapshot of the national welding workforce and industry, and is published by the CWB Group every two years. The report brings together data from Statistics Canada, Employment and Social Development Canada, and other federal labour market sources. The report covers who works in welding-related occupations, where they work, how the workforce is changing, and what the industry can expect in the years ahead.

The 2026 report is the first to be published as an interactive online resource. Readers can easily sort and compare occupational data and use an interactive map to look at workforce size, wages, and 2025–2027 employment outlooks by province. 

The report also covers apprenticeship trends, the effect of automation and digital technologies on the skills employers need, and the industry’s strategic outlook to 2030.

Available in English and French, the report is designed as a practical planning tool for employers, educators, governments, and anyone with an interest in the future of welding in Canada.
