Sustainable Welding: Minimizing Carbon Footprint and Advancing Green Practices

Welding is essential for the fabrication of buildings, bridges, vehicles, pipelines, and renewable-energy infrastructure. Despite its importance, welding contributes to environmental impacts through high energy consumption, emissions associated with steel production, and material waste.

Conventional arc-welding processes require significant electrical power, often generated from fossil fuels. In addition, welding activities produce fumes, slag, and scrap materials that require proper management. Rework caused by poor welding practices further increases energy use and material consumption.
