Impacts of New and Lower Exposure Limits for Manganese in Welding Fume (ROOM NE22-105)

This session will provide a short review of manganese fume toxicity, the evolution of relevant occupational exposure limits and some insight as to how Worksafe BC's recent adoption of the updated ACGIH exposure limit for respirable manganese impacts welding employers in BC. This is a first-hand opportunity to learn about available cost-effective options to reduce both health and compliance risks in your organization while maintaining workplace efficiency, productivity, and profitability.

CSA Standard W47.1 2019 Edition Highlights Workshop (ROOM NE22-105)

The new edition of CSA Standard W47.1 has introduced its own new provisions for robotic applications, welding of sheet steel of 3mm and less welding of stainless steel of all thicknesses and new provisions specific for marine applications. These new provisions will apply to all CSA W47.1 certified welding companies when such applications are required by the Contract, Product Standard or by the National or Provincial Building Codes.

How to Prepare for a CWB Weld Test (ROOM NE22-105)

In this presentation Cristian Zanfir will discuss how to prepare for a CWB weld test, which is the appropriate test for you, making, cleaning and stamping the plate. A discussion about following the instructions carefully, what positions and techniques can be used, what constitutes a pass or fail on your test and how often you must test or retest, along with the rules for tack welders and welding operators.
