Welding Inspector Level 1

This classroom course is designed for Welding Inspectors who want to increase their knowledge of metallurgy, inspection and testing techniques. This is your first step to advancing your career and increasing your earning potential.

For in-class students, a pre-seminar online course access will be provided for 90 days starting 2 weeks prior to the start of the in-class session.

The course includes:

• World-class teaching and knowledge from our CWB instructors
• An opportunity to network with other welding professionals
• Upon successful completion of the course the participant will receive a Certificate and an Examination Transcript (70% passing grade is required) (all course exams are now completed online)

• Health & Safety
• Drawing Interpretation, Joint Design, Metal Preparation and Symbols for Welding
• Introduction to Welding Processes
• Basic Metallurgy and Material Specifications
• Basic Inspection
• Codes and Standards
• Functions of the Inspector
• Techniques of Visual Inspection
• Practical Inspection of Welded Specimens

The in-class presentations are based on the CWBi Level 1 Textbooks and Practical Inspection materials.

All Welding Inspector Level 1 course exams require the user to have access to a device to complete exams online.

Certification to CSA W178.2

Successful completion of the course material and course examinations will exempt you from writing the closed book CSA W178.2 certification examination on the fundamental principles and practices of welding, quality control, and welding inspection. (Please note that all certification examinations must be completed within 2 years of the application approval date).

Please note: Welding Inspector certification exams will be available for completion on the next day immediately following courses offered in our Milton and Nisku locations ONLY. The Application Form (CWB Form 450) and Visual Acuity Form (CWB Form 455) must be completed in full and received prior to the course start date, no exceptions. The accompanying course transcript and course completion certificate must be received by end of day on the last day of the course. Any candidates that are missing this information by end of day on the last day of the course will not be eligible to attempt the inspector certification exams on the following day.
