Course Overview

This course is designed for Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) members, Managers, Shop Supervisors, and welders who want to increase their knowledge and compliance with welding health and safety codes, standards and best practices.

Focusing on creating safer work environments and driving compliance with local occupational health and safety codes (OHS), this course reviews welding health and safety regulations, including those in CSA Standard W117.2 “Safety in Welding, Cutting and Allied Processes”. It also provides an understanding of welding safety requirements as outlined in the appropriate provincial Occupational Health and Safety Codes.

The CWB Education Welding Health & Safety course provides instructional material, presented by our knowledgeable CWB Education instructors, that covers the following topics:

  • Duties of the employer, supervisor, worker and Health and Safety Committee
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Identification of hazards
  • Fumes and ventilation
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Oxy-Fuel Safety
  • Confined spaces
  • Lockout/Tagout

Pre-Requisites:
There are no prerequisites for this course.

Upon successful completion of the course the participant will receive a Certificate of Attendance, which is useful for documenting proof of Welding Safety Training.
