Milton, ON – The CWB Group is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of the CWB Centre of Innovation, a new training and innovation facility designed to strengthen and advance the region’s welding and joining industry.

Scheduled to open in April 2026, the centre will operate out of the organization’s flagship headquarters in Milton, Ontario, which has been transformed into a dynamic hub for classroom and hands-on training, technology adoption, and industry collaboration. CWB will also be hosting an official opening ceremony to celebrate the launch of the centre during the Welding Industry Day event on June 8, 2026.

The Centre of Innovation is funded in part by the Government of Ontario and will serve as a one-stop destination for the welding and joining community to learn, practice, and test skills in a range of related fields. The state-of-the-art facility includes:

  • A fully equipped welding and joining shop for camps and practical training
  • A CWB-accredited test centre, supporting nationally recognized welding qualifications and other industry certifications
  • An Innovation Hub showcasing emerging technologies in welding and manufacturing
  • Dedicated space for the Canadian Collision Repair Academy
  • Dedicated space for electric vehicle technician training
  • Conference rooms to host industry initiatives, events, and collaborative programs

CWB is a long-standing leader in welding standards, technical excellence, and public safety. Working closely with the CWB Foundation and the CWB Association, the organization delivers essential training and education programs across Canada and beyond.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to leverage our headquarters into a unique training centre that will advance the welding and joining industry for Milton and the surrounding areas,” says Doug Luciani, President and CEO, CWB Group. “With this new facility, the CWB Group will be able to expand its programs and services, while showcasing the future of welding innovation.”

The CWB Group also maintains an affiliate partnership with EWI, an independent engineering consultancy specializing in advanced manufacturing technologies and solutions for a variety of sectors. This collaboration will allow the Centre of Innovation to draw on EWI’s expertise to drive advancements in welding and manufacturing and equip professionals with the skills needed to meet evolving industry demands.

As preparations continue for the April 2026 opening, CWB is eager to bring industry, educators, students, and the community together in a space designed to support the next generation of welding and manufacturing talent.
