The CWB Group, a leading authority in certification and education for the welding and inspection industries, is proud to announce the launch of its Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Personnel Certification — a significant advancement in quality assurance, integrity, and safety for Canada’s technical inspection community.

Backed by decades of excellence in welding certification and related industry services, CWB’s new NDT Personnel Certification is aligned with the CAN/CGSB-48.9712-2022 standard and supports the inspection needs of the Engineering, Materials and Components (EMC) sector. From manufacturing and construction to oil and gas and infrastructure, NDT plays a critical role in safeguarding the integrity and reliability of essential systems. 

Effective immediately, the CWB Group is accepting certification applications for Penetrant Testing (PT2, PT3) and Magnetic Testing (MT2, MT3). Additional methods — including Ultrasonic (UT), Radiographic (RT), and Eddy Current Testing (ET) — will be added with the program’s full-scale rollout, expected by Fall 2025.

CWB has designed its NDT Personnel Certification program to support the evolving needs of both experienced professionals and new entrants, offering an efficient and streamlined application process. While email applications for initial certification, recertifications, and renewals are currently available, an enhanced digital portal will be launched in the coming months to simplify the application process even further. With the full roll-out of the program, online proctoring of written examinations will also be made available to increase accessibility of NDT certification across Canada. 

Additionally, CWB Group can renew and recertify all existing CAN/CGSB-48.9712 NDT certifications, including those from other CGSB NDT certification bodies.
