Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) is a versatile welding-driven process that offers significant applications in the production and repair of large metallic components. Its ability to add material layer by layer at a high deposition rate with precision and control makes it an attractive technique for repair applications, enabling extended component lifespan, reduced downtime, and minimized material waste. This capability is especially well-suited for industries that face challenges with expensive part replacements and service interruptions. This paper presents a case study focused on the feasibility of utilizing a precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel (PH 13–8Mo) feedstock wire for both fabricating and restoring injection molding dies using the WAAM technique.
