EXPANDING APPLICATIONS FOR PORTABLE PLASMA SYSTEMS VIA SPECIALIZED TORCHES AND CONSUMABLES

Plasma cutting and gouging applications are common in ship building, structural steel, scrap metal processing, weld edge preparation and weld repair to name a few. Many operators in these industries and others desire cutting thicker metal, do it quickly with great edge quality to improve metal cutting efficiency. However, there are many new potential applications for plasma systems that can be accomplished with the use specialty torches and consumables to also improve efficiency. This presentation will cover how portable plasma systems are evolving beyond traditional manual and mechanized cutting and gouging solutions to enable them to be used for new applications which can result in additional time and cost saving for users. These new solutions are the result of the advent of specialized consumables and torches that are designed to better control of the plasma arc for more precise applications or to get the arc closer to the where the cutting and gouging is to be done.
