Automotive producers are trying to increase the use of advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) in frame applications, allowing thinner gauges of steel and reducing the vehicle weight. Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) is one of the joining techniques used to join thin sheets of AHSS for automotive applications.
