Undoubtedly, we have all felt the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in one way or another over the last several months. The overarching impact on the Canadian manufacturing industry has been quite negative due to many companies needing to reduce their workforce, reduce hours or stop production entirely to maintain the safety of workers and keep their businesses afloat during reduced demand. Despite this trend, some niche and critical industries have seen an increase in demand. Medical supplies, devices, and testing demands have all increased exponentially as an acute and pre-emptive response to the possibility of mass hospitalization and increased load on the medical system.
