Kitchener

The Kitchener Chapter, formerly the Golden Triangle Chapter, centers itself in the tri-city area of Kitchener/Waterloo, Cambridge, and Guelph, ON and includes a wide area west to London and north to Owen Sound. This area is well-established historically as a zone of intense manufacturing including many, many industries that employ welding as a primary process. Much of the welding and fabrication work supports the automotive sector as well as many highly engineered custom and structural fabrication shops. The Kitchener Chapter Executive has close ties to the renowned welding programs offered at Conestoga College. The faculty at the College were the founding members of the Chapter dating back to the days when the organization was called the Canadian Welding Society (CWS) and Welding Institute of Canada (WIC).

We represent over 2,000 CWB Association members in the region. The growth of the CWB Association has been reflective within the Kitchener Chapter, and we intend to offer our members and non-members alike professional development and networking opportunities. The Chapter plans events at least once a month from September to June. Typical events include: single speaker evenings, dinner seminars, plant tours and other events throughout the season. Occasionally we have technical sessions with other societies and associations including the AWS, SME, ASM, and CINDE among others interested in hosting mutually interesting topics. We also plan joint meetings with our fellow CWB Association chapters and have a mentoring role with the Student Chapter of Conestoga College.

Presently, the Chapter is planning the 2020-2021 meeting schedule.
