New Remote Examination Option for CSA W178.2 Certification Now Available from CWB Group

The CWB Group is pleased to introduce a new service option for inspectors pursuing certification to CSA W178.2, allowing them to complete their Practical and Report examinations remotely. Until now, these examinations were exclusively conducted at CWB Group offices or designated exam sittings.

Commencing July 15, 2024, the CWB Group will offer the Practical and Report examinations online via ProctorU, utilizing a weld inspection simulator. This online format will encompass identical content to the current in-person exam, providing candidates the convenience of completing it virtually from their home or office.

Powered by advanced technology, this web-based exam enables candidates to inspect 3D weld specimens and utilize virtual weld gauges to measure discontinuities, aligning results against a Generic Welding Standard. As with our current process, completed exams will be promptly assessed, with results emailed to clients within five business days.

This initiative aims to alleviate the need for candidates in remote locations to travel long distances for their examinations, thereby saving valuable time.

To facilitate the transition, we are offering a free demonstration presentation for a limited time, designed to familiarize users with navigating samples and using tools for accurate measurements within the virtual simulator. This demonstration features representative weld samples and tools similar to those contained within an exam and is intended for users to become comfortable with navigating the tools and samples in virtual environment.
