CWB Group: Update on the Educators Conference Amid COVID-19 Concerns

April 6, 2020

The well-being of our employees and clients is of the utmost importance to us. As we continue to monitor and respond to the changing situation regarding the outbreak, we have implemented various protocols to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 in our organization and its stakeholders.

We regret to announce that we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Educators Conference as per Health Canada's advice to avoid large conferences and gatherings in enclosed spaces. These are unprecedented times, and we feel that this decision is necessary and has not been made lightly. We have decided to host an additional online event in the fall instead of the annual conference, and more details will be available in the weeks to come.

Please see below for an official statement from our CEO, Doug Luciani, that is being shared with all stakeholders, partners, and associates.

“It is with great disappointment that I announce the postponement of our Annual Educators Conference. We have given this decision a great deal of consideration, and with the fluid nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, our primary responsibility is to contribute to the health and well-being of our communities. We want to ensure that vendors, event partners, and stakeholders are provided with as much notice as possible so that they can adjust their travel and staffing plans along with their financial planning for the year.

While we are disappointed that this action is necessary, we will work with all of our stakeholders to determine the next steps to address the impact and find the best way forward. We are deeply committed to promoting welding to the greater community and will keep you updated on alternative online events coming later this year.”

We would like to thank you for your support during this challenging period, and we will continue to update you through our website https://www.cwbgroup.org/covid19 about the situation at hand.
