ACORNCORE – DECEMBER 1, 2017 UPDATE IS NOW AVAILABLE

This is a significant update for Acorn Welder and Metal Fabricator (Pre-employment/ Level 1).
Be advised that as of December 1st 2017 all related Acorn course material will reflect the revisions outlined in this document. This includes all instructor resources as well as student course material generated by AcornCore after December 1st, 2017. Please carefully review the changes so that you are aware of any impact on your current and future courses. Note: this update will not affect student course material already generated prior to December 1st, 2017.

Major aspects of this update include:
Welder Pre-employment/ Level 1 (1A1, 1A2, 1AX, 1B1) programs

  • Practical welding exercises: re-named 37 exercises to provide general description on each exercise (instead of #). Please refer to OLD vs NEW 1AX Exercises sheet for cross-reference. We have also added some new exercises: one for GTAW process, and 5 for the GMAW process. Each exercise contains at least one 3D interactive illustration (for use with AcornMobile) and a link to one or more instructional videos. Please note that exercise numbers have changed and some exercises now comprise multiple in-shop activities.
  • Majority of related theory components have been revised, correcting identified errors and expanding content: TM1.1 APPLIED TRADE MATH, WP3.1 GMAW, WP4.1 FCAW, FA1.1 ASSEMBLING FABRICATION, and MF1.1 METAL FORMING.
  • Exams have been revised for: MH1.1 MATERIAL HANDLING, ST1.1 HAND & POWER TOOLS
  • Metal Fabricator Level 1 (1C1, 1B1) programs
  • All theory components/ sections are now also available as online learning courses (15)
  • Added 15 new practical welding exercises: 7 for SMAW process, 4 for GTAW process, 4 for GMAW process
  • Updated Handouts and Presentation files for: SM1.1 STATIONARY POWER TOOLS, MB1.1 METAL FORMING
